What's new at Yarn?

What's new at Yarn?

We've been getting so many new things in the shop. We wanted to share some of the beautiful new yarn that has arrived, some project ideas for the new yarn and some of the new gift items that have arrived.

Let's start with new yarn!

Como from Lamana is a sport weight, superfine Merino that comes in the most gorgeous colors! This yarn is just so special. We're really excited for you to try it. Lamana is a German company that is working to create high quality yarns by exclusively working with selected owner-managed wool spinning mills in Italy and Peru. In the production of their yarns they attach great importance to the origin of the wool, the breeding conditions and the further processing and dyeing of the fibers they select. When you work with this yarn, you can feel the care and attention that was put into creating it.

Como is machine washable and is a great choice for lots of different types of projects including hats, cowls, shawls, sweaters for babies, kids and adults but it especially shines in cabled knits. Here are a couple of suggestions.

The Cable Stitch Cardigan by rosa p. is a sweet sweater that you would wear for years and years. It has a slightly vintage vibe but will work equally well in modern wardrobes. The pattern is available in the store and on Ravelry.

Aldous by Isabelle Kraemer is an extremely simple pullover that you could wear anywhere, anytime. Como would make this sweater just a little bit more special. The pattern is available in the store and on Ravelry.

I have to share one more sweater pattern with you. Isn't the Spot Regular by Anne Ventzel amazing? This looks like such a fun sweater to knit! The all-over colorwork pattern is super fun. It would be so pretty in Como. The pattern is available on Ravelry.

The Elise Scarf by Susanne Müller is a sweet little scarf with a pretty lace stitch. You only need one ball of Como for this scarf and it would make a wonderful gift. The pattern is available in the store and on Ravelry.

Another new yarn is Retreat Super Chunky from West Yorkshire Spinners. We think you're going to love this yarn because the wool is a crossbreed of Blue Faced Leicester and Kerry Hill sheep. The yarn is smooth and soft. It comes in deep, rich colors and has great yardage for the price. It's perfect for bulky cowls, hats and sweaters.

Pattern suggestions for Retreat Super Chunky -

Marian by Jane Richmond is a fun, quick-to-make, textured cowl that would be perfect in Retreat. The pattern is free on Ravelry.

Isn't the Burton Bear cowl by Heidi May adorable?! This is such a fun project for your favorite child. It will knit up quickly in Retreat. The pattern is available in the store and on Ravelry.

Duna from Amano is the third new yarn that I want to share with you. This beautiful yarn is a blend of organic cotton and Alpaca in a fingering weight. These two fibers together bring out the best qualities in each other. The colors are subtly dyed and give a heathered effect because of the way each fiber takes the dye. You can use Duna for tops, shawls, sweaters and more!

Pattern ideas for Duna -

The Kolorblok shawl by Justyna Lorkowska would be a great choice for this yarn. The 50 gram skeins make it easier to play with lots of colors in your project. The pattern is available in the store and on Ravelry.

If you've been with me for awhile you'll know that I love the Good Vibes shawl by Nadia Crétin-Léchenne. It's such a pretty shawl and it would be beautiful in Duna. The pattern is available in the store and on Ravelry.

The Stockbridge cardigan by Ysolda Teague would be beautiful in Duna. This cardigan is a perfect wardrobe staple. Ysolda always includes really nice details to make your sweater fit well, so her patterns are worth your time. The pattern is available in the store and on Ravelry.

These beautiful Mini Skein Earrings from Happy Habit are a perfect gift for your favorite knitter! The mini skeins are 100% hand dyed silk with sterling silver rings and hooks. Aren't they pretty?

We have Pooley Vases back in the shop in time for Easter and Mother's Day! These whimsical vases are so much fun. You can add a few blooms and you instantly have a sweet arrangement for your table or windowsill. Check out all of the color options on our website.

See you soon!
