Project ideas for spring showers

Project ideas for spring showers

Even though the calendar tells us differently, we're still in that transition time between Winter and Spring. Some days lately we've barely needed a jacket and then the next day we need hats, gloves and a rain jacket! I have some project ideas for you to manage the unpredictable weather!

First up, I want to share my new hat pattern. I designed the Cabled Rib Hat because cables are fun to knit and never go out of style. This hat is perfect for your morning walks this time of year. The pattern includes sizes for baby/toddler, teen/small adult and large adult. The pattern calls for a DK weight yarn and it works well in our Tidal DK, which is a superwash Merino. But I especially love it in our newest yarn from Tributary Yarns - Tributary DK. This new base is a 100% non-superwash Merino. It is so soft and squishy! We are dyeing it in sem-solid colors which work really well for the cables in this hat. The pattern is available on the website and on Ravelry and we have some really pretty colors of Tributary DK available right now.

Another great transitional piece for your wardrobe is the Stonepoint Poncho. You can just throw this on over a long-sleeved or short-sleeved shirt and a pair of jeans and you look put together and comfortable. The pattern calls for Acadia from the Fibre Co. The yarn is a gorgeous blend of wool, Alpaca and silk. We used 6 skeins for our sample. The pattern is available in the store and on Ravelry.

A warm and cozy wool shawl is a perfect item to have on hand this time of year. Our friend Kaycee recently finished the Sunday Morning Shawl from Espace Tricot in Chusku from Mirasol (check out the photos of Kaycee in her shawl on our Instagram and Facebook pages). Chusku is a 100% Corriedale wool yarn that has a wonderful texture and bounce. The soft wool and solid colors are perfect for the textured stitches in this shawl. The pattern is free on Ravelry.

A customer came in the other day to get yarn for the See My Vest Chunky pattern. This pattern is perfect to knit right now. It will knit up quickly and will keep you warm but not too warm on the chilly Spring days. The yarn our customer chose was Lang Cloud, which will make this a fun, stripey vest. The construction of the yarn will also make this light even though it's a chunky weight yarn. It's a great choice! The pattern is free on Ravelry.

Because Easter is coming, we had to share this adorable pattern from Susan B. Anderson. The Reversible Bunnies pattern is so cute! How fun is this? The pattern calls for worsted weight yarn, so we're recommending Lanas from Berroco. You could probably find some things from your stash for some of the colors. Perfect to put in an Easter basket for your favorite little one. The pattern is available on Ravelry.

Let us know if you need help picking out yarn for these or any other patterns!

See you soon.
