The limited edition Tributary Yarns color of the month for February is here and this month it's a fundrasier!
On Friday, January 2, a major fire destroyed a large building in downtown Arcata, our neighboring town. Several businesses were lost in the fire as well as apartments and artist studios. As we shared last month, we are honoring local artists with our color inspiration for the Color of the Month yarns in 2026. For February we are honoring the local artist Carol Andersen. We are calling our February color Carol's Dragonflies because the color was inspired by a painting called "5 Dragonflies".
We will be donating a percentage of the sales of this color to the GoFundMe set up by Carol's daughter. Here is an excerpt from the GoFundMe page describing what was lost, "Carol's studio at 10th Street Studio burned to the ground. Every finished painting, every work in progress, every commission she was working on - gone. Decades of accumulated materials - rare papers, paints, brushes, her entire reference library, work tables, easels - all destroyed. This wasn't just a workspace. It was the physical archive of a lifetime dedicated to art. The loss is total and uninsured."

This colorway is a variegated blend of russet and wine on a warm, neutral base with speckles of gold and dark purple. This month we have a few skeins of our River Silk blend as well as the Stream Sock base.
- Stream Sock base is 85% Superwash Merino and 15% nylon.
- Each 100 gram skein has 394 yards (360 meters).
- The gauge is 28 stitches equals 4 inches on size US 1-3 needles.
- River Silk is 70% Superwash Merino and 30% silk
- Each 3.5 oz. skein has 438 yards (400 meters)
- The gauge is 28 stitches equals 4 inches on size US 3-5 needles
