Description: The class is a full-day introduction to the idea of Sequence Knitting. Sequence Knitting is a way to make highly textured, usually reversible, handknit fabrics with very succinct patterns. Students will create swatches to get a feeling for the range of possibilities and understand how they can use sequence knitting in their own work.

Pre-requisite: students should be comfortable with knit, purl, cast on, cast off, increasing and decreasing.

Supplies: You’ll make 2–3 swatches as part of the class. Bring two solid-color, smooth yarns appropriate for swatching, and with appropriate needles. The yarn can be fingering, sport, DK, or worsted weight.

Specific Concepts covered in the class:

  • Concept of sequence knitting
  • The four ways to do sequence knitting: 1-row, shaped-1-row, in the round, serpentine
